The forms plugin Contact Form 7 for WordPress offers spam filtering with Akismet. They provide 3 options to add to the appropriate fields in your form:
- akismet:author
- akismet:author_email
- akismet:author_url
This is great and these are options that allow Akismet to check these specific inputs against their data. However, you would of course want other data such as “comments” or “message” to be checked. The good news is that it does check that data, it’s just not made very clear on the Contact Form 7 page.
If 1 of the options above are set, then all form inputs are concatenated and sent to Akismet for processing. This means that the entire contents of your Contact Form 7 post will be processed by Akismet (comments, message, etc.).
