Insert Images into Joomla Content Items

Like everything else, it seems that it takes some time to figure something out. A client of mine needed the ability to easily add images within their Joomla Content Items and more importantly, they needed to allow Joomla Authors to insert images into their submitted content items.

In order to accomplish image insertion into Joomla content items you’ll need to use a new Joomla editor. You’ll need to use JCE Joomla Content Editor. The url is here:

JCE at the Joomla Extensions Gallery

With newer versions of Joomla (1.0.*), you’ll need to download the following files:

JCE Admin Component 1.10 beta2 – com_jce_110_beta2.zip

JCE Editor Mambot 1.10 beta2 – bot_jce_110beta2.zip

Note:You must install the Admin Component first, then the Editor Mambot, and then download and install your choice of plugins using the Plugin Manager in the Admin component. Uninstalling the Admin component or editor mambot will require a reinstallation of all plugins for JCE.

After installing these, all you’ll need to do is go into your Joomla Global Configuration and set the Default WYSIWYG Editor to JCE Editor Mambot.

And with these 3 simple steps, you will be able to more easily insert images directly into your Joomla content items.

Also, you can edit the JCE Plugins to make a simpler editor with less options (good for simple users).
